You can help a child go to camp this year.
The cost is sponsor a child for the full 8 weeks is $480. A group of 10 prople can sponsor a child for $48 per person and a group of 20 people can sponsor a child for $24 per person. Contact Rhoda Kinsey at 704-492-9493
CAMP SON SHINE 2008 UPDATE
Camp Son Shine 2008 was an amazing success. The Lord blessed Camp Son Shine with the opportunity to minister to 57 campers this summer. Camp Son Shine's mission is to teach and prepare our campers how to shine the light of Christ's love. We seek to do this by ministering to the community and providing a way for children to come off the street and give them a safe environment so they can learn, play and grow to know to Christ.
The campers participated in daily activities ranging from, daily devotions, academic classroom lessons, arts & crafts, sports camps, Computer Technology, Girl Scouts, parties, Ice Cream Socials, community functions and field trips to Rays Splash Planet, Starlight Roller Skating Rink, Lazy Five Ranch and others.
The Campers learned and explored weekly themes from Nature, Sports, Water, Careers, Culture and Creativity.
Praise The Lord, 18 Children accepted Jesus into their hearts at Camp Son Shine Last Summer!
2008 CAMP SON SHINE STAFF
Rhonda Kinsey (Summer Camp Director): Rhonda is the Director of Briar Creek Road Outreach Summer Camp and After School Program at the Church. She will obtain her B.A. in May 2009 In English and Child Related Studies from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Rhonda is commitmented and passionate to reach the lost by enriching marriages and strengthening families by leading them to Christ and changing lives forever.
Laura Harris (Kindergarten-2nd grade Teacher): Laura is a junior at Appalachian State University, majoring in Elementary Education. She is a dedicated, hard worker with a heart and deep deisre to see children learn and grow in the hope and love of Jesus Christ.
Tanya Hamilton (3rd-5th Grade Teacher); Tanya is a strong spiritualy driven woman, with experience in outreach, storytelling, poetry, art and theater. She works tirelessly to uplift and motivate children and families within the community.
Tarance 'Coach' Rose (6th-8th grade Teacher/Sports Camp Director): Coach Rose is the founder and creator of the 3-2-1 Fundamental Basketball Training Program. Coach Rose graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York with a B.S in Business. His love for basketball has allowed him to help children within the community by developing their basketball skills as well as life training skills.

Camp "Son" Shine is designed to shine the light of Christ's love by keeping children off the street and giving them a safe environment where they can learn, play and grow to know Christ. Reaching over 400 children in the last ten years, Camp "Son" Shine ministers to children who might otherwise be left alone at home while school is out and their parents are at work. After attending Camp "Son" Shine, the children then minister to their parents and many others. Now in its eleventh year, the camp will again be open to 60 children, Kindergarten through 8th grade.
