Being elected and ordained a deacon is an honor and a privilege, but not without responsibilities to God and His church.
A. The deacon is a spiritually maturing Christian who is filled with the Spirit and wisdom, integrates the deep truths of faith into his/her personal life, devotes personal time to Bible study and prayer, and is a faithful witness bearing fruit.
B. The deacon demonstrates a life accepted by God and His church. He/she leads an influential Christian life at home and in the community, is willing to share his/her personal testimony in ministering to others, and lives a lifestyle that reflects Christian conduct and behavior.
C. The deacon is an enabler of the ministries/committees supported by the church by using his/her spiritual gifts whether they are administrative or as an individual contributor.
D. The deacon is a responsible member of the church by actively participating in weekly services and activities, serving as a conduit of information to/from the congregation about matters pertaining to church business and functions but keeping in confidence those matters that are not to be discussed with the church body, promoting unity in the church, prayerfully supporting the staff and church members, and supporting our church's programs, mission and vision.
E. The deacon is a faithful steward of ALL God's gifts.
F. The deacon is knowledgeable of historic Baptist distinctions such as autonomy of the local Church, the priesthood of the believer, and the soul competence of the individual (i.e. each individual is responsible to God).
